MEL GIBSON SCANDAL WON'T AFFECT HIS CAREER? Surprisingly, the implosion of Mel Gibson's personal life might not be the end of his movie career. A 60 Minutes/Vanity Fair poll found that more than three quarters of Americans said they would not be affected by audiotapes of Mel ranting at estranged ex-girlfriend, when deciding whether to see one of his films. When asked if they were less likely to buy a ticket for a Gibson movie after hearing the tapes, 76 percent of Americans -- including 80 percent of men and 72 percent of women -- picked , "No, no effect."
NICOLE RICHIE AND KITSON DO BATTLE: Majestic Mills, the company that owns Nicole Richie's Winter Kate clothing line, is suing the popular L.A. boutique, Kitson. The company claims Kitson purchased almost $240,000 of Winter Kate clothing to sell, but never paid them for it. CocoPerez.com reports that Kitson is fighting back, alleging, "We ordered goods based on the launch and personal appearance by Nicole Richie for Winter Kate, produced by Majestic Mills. They not only failed to provide the launch and personal appearance by Nicole Richie, they shipped inferior goods, wrong sizes and the shipments were late."
ELIN'S PEOPLE ISSUE SELLS BIG: Last week's People magazine featuring Elin Nordegren was a hit on the newsstands -- which came as no surprise to the staff. PerezHilton.com reports that the magazine was so confident it would be a big seller that they raised prices and printed more copies of the issue -- which they hadn't done since the debut of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's twins back in August 2008. An insider told Perez, "Everyone at People will be popping the champagne this morning. Early numbers show that Elin sold around 2 million copies, way up from its average of 1.4 million, yet not quite the 2.5 million Angelina sold." However, the issue was likely more profitable than the Brangelina cover because Elin sat down for free while the Jolie-Pitts got paid a rumored $12 million.
