SANDRA BULLOCK AND TOM HANKS STARRING TOGETHER? Sandra Bullock is in talks to star alongside Tom Hanks in the movie adaptation of Jonathan Franzen's Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close. The story revolves around a nine-year-old who begins searching for a lock to match a key given to him by his father prior to his death in the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. Hanks and Bullock would play his parents.
RUMORED 'DWTS' CAST INCLUDES AUDRINA AND THE SITUATION: The Dancing With the Stars casting rumors have begun. PerezHilton.com claims that Audrina Patridge, The Situation and singer-turned-reality-star Brandy have all signed on for the upcoming season.
'KARDASHIANS' PREMIERE PULLS BIG RATINGS: A lot of people care about Keeping Up With the Kardashians. Deadline.com reports that 4.7 million people tuned in for the show's fifth season premiere on Sunday night -- up 14 percent from last year. It was E!'s second most watched and highest-rated telecast ever behind last season's Kardashians finale.
KARA TRIED TO QUIT 'IDOL'? If Kara DioGuardi doesn't return to American Idol next season -- it wasn't necessarily because she was fired. A source told EOnline.com, "She went to Fox two months ago and told them she didn't want to do another season. She's ready to move on. She did two years and thinks that's enough." Even though the source claims Kara tried to quit -- she's still contractually obligated to do the show if Fox tells her to. The insider explained, "It's frustrating because she can't even take any meetings . . . everyone wants to know what her schedule will be like, but she doesn't know. What happens if Fox tells her they still want her for next season?"
ANNA PAQUIN AND STEPHEN MOYER PRESENTING AT EMMYS: Newlyweds Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer have been added to the list of Emmy presenters. The True Blood stars will appear on stage this coming Sunday, just over week after tying the knot. Previously announced presenters include Stephen Colbert, Tina Fey, Jon Hamm, January Jones and Ricky Gervais.
TINSLEY MORTIMER LANDS BOOK DEAL: Socialite Tinsley Mortimer failed in her bid to become a reality star, but she's hoping a career in writing will be more fruitful. The New York Post reports that the former High Society star signed a deal with Simon & Schuster to write a novel. She previously wrote a chapter on "interpersonal skills" in Dr. Stuart Fisher's 2008 book, The Park Avenue Diet."
