Carrie Underwood has seen her upcoming movie, Soul Surfer, and she's pretty proud of herself. As a novice actress, Carrie was a bit uneasy about how she would do, but the singer gives herself two thumbs up. She told the AP, "I really liked how everything turned out, including myself. I was really expecting the worst from myself, and I really surprised myself."
Carrie plays a youth counselor in the film, which tells the story of Bethany Hamilton, the young pro surfer who lost her arm in a shark attack. Soul Surfer will be in theaters sometime next year.
Carrie said, "It's definitely an uplifting movie. Everybody would definitely feel a lot better coming out than they did coming in."
While Carrie enjoyed the opportunity to act, she says singing is really her forte at this point. She said, "There are people that are absolutely amazing actors and actresses, and I am not one of those, though who's to say one day; you never know, maybe I will be. But I'm definitely new at this and just doing what's fun right now, and I love my music; that's my first love."
And speaking of that, Carrie will kick off the next leg of her Play On tour on September 25th in Portland, Oregon. The tour begins at the same time her new husband, NHL player Mike Fisher, begins his new season.
Carrie told the AP, "It's kind of like my season, my tour, starts the same time his season does. It will definitely be a challenge but we love each other and we love what we do, so there's no reason we can't have it all. Next year will be an easier year for me. As soon as my tour is over, I'll be hanging out with him a lot more."
Earlier this week, it was announced that Carrie is the new North American face of Olay skin care.
She and Brad Paisley will return for the third consecutive year to co-host the CMA Awards, which will air live from Nashville's Bridgestone Arena on November 10th on ABC.
Carrie is up for Female Vocalist and Album of the Year for Play On.
