Ashlee Simpson says she's coming back from her short acting stint with a new album and a fashion line. She tells Paper magazine that the direction of her new record "is definitely a bit folky." She added, "Well, I'm always a kooky person, so you're not going to lose that. But for me, there's an era of music that I miss and I wanna make that kind of music. The songs that we need to hear."
Ashlee has plans to work on more than just music though. She revealed that she's going to follow in big sister Jessica's footsteps by launching her own clothing line. She says, "Right now, my best friend Lauren and I are going to work on a clothing line, too. Small, cool boutique-y stuff."
She also says that even though she isn't doing any acting at the moment, it's something she would continue for the right role. She told the mag, "I'm definitely one that if there's something I love, I'd probably do it if it was a role that I connected with. It's not a rush."
Ashlee says that if she could collaborate with any artist, she'd pick Gwen Stefani or Karen O of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. She said, "I have to say Gwen Stefani is the new Blondie so I'd wanna do it with her. Or Karen O. I would die . . . I've grown up loving her. I'd paint my face like her. She's my all-time really."
