Ellingson, a decorated fighter pilot in World War II, died laMay 16 at the age of 91.
Ellingson was a member of the state House of Representatives from 1969 to 1980, and held several leadership posts during that time.
Funeral services for Ellingson will be held Tuesday morning at Grace Lutheran Church in Sisseton.

TEA, S.D. (AP) - A man is in custody after allegedly hitting three children on bikes with his truck near the southeast South Dakota city of Tea.
KELO-TV reports that the incident happened about 9:30 p.m. Sunday. The three children were taken to a hospital with unknown injuries.
Police did not immediately identify the driver who was arrested after being given a sobriety test.
BROOKINGS, S.D. (AP) - The South Dakota Board of Regents has approved agreements that will make it easier for students at Lake Area Technical Institute in Watertown to transfer credits to South Dakota State University in Brookings.
The agreements allow technical school students studying medical laboratory science or large-animal agriculture to more easily complete a bachelor's degree in related fields at SDSU.
Regents Executive Director Jack Warner says the number of students transferring back and forth from South Dakota's two-year technical institutes and the four-year public universities has increased. He says 257 credit-transfer agreements have been approved among the universities and technical institutes.
RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) - The Ellsworth Air Force Base is celebrating its 70th anniversary and the milestone has many reflecting on the base's past and its future.
The Rapid City Journal reports that Air Force Chief of Staff General Norton Schwartz was at the base on Saturday to celebrate the anniversary.
Schwartz told a crowd of about 600 that the Air Force faces budget cuts over the next few years and the best way to meet the cuts would be to close some bases around the country. He says Ellsworth and every other base would be evaluated by the quality of facilities and amount of community support they receive.
South Dakota Governor Dennis Daugaard says the technological advances at Ellsworth would help the base if it faces possible closure.
PIERRE, S.D. (AP) - The South Dakota State's Attorneys Association has named Jim Iosty its prosecutor of the year.
Iosty has served as a deputy state's attorney in Minnehaha County for more than 25 years and has prosecuted some of the office's most heinous and complex cases. He is known for his superb trial preparation and for tireless work to successfully seek justice in his cases.
Attorney General Marty Jackley says Iosty defines what it is to be a tireless public servant in the state.
The award, established in 2002, was presented at the annual meeting of the association held recently in Deadwood.
A plaque recognizing Iosty along with past and future recipients of the award is displayed in the office of the attorney general in Pierre.
PIERRE, S.D. (AP) - The South Dakota Board of Regents has given three state universities approval to begin planning new degrees in science fields.
Black Hills State University is exploring an associate degree in applied health sciences.
The South Dakota School of Mines and Technology is looking at a bachelor's degree in applied biological sciences, and the University of South Dakota is planning a bachelor's degree in medical biology.
After the schools finish planning, they must return to the Board of Regents for final approval to offer the degrees.
The regents also approved five new minors. Those minors include audio production at Dakota State University, environmental engineering and sustainability engineering at the School of Mines and Technology, and accounting and international business at the University of South Dakota.
Officers who were called at 3:22am Friday to the Shop-N-Cart store at 4301 East 12th Street were told three black males in their late teens to early twenties had entered the store and ordered the clerk to give them money from the register.
The clerk told police two of the suspects were carrying black handguns.
The three took an unknown amount of money and alcohol, then left on foot running south through an apartment complex.
No one was injured and police say they are still investigating.

KADOKA, S.D. (AP) - A school board member and rodeo club adviser in Kadoka is accused of allowing five boys to drink beer during a work day in April at the rodeo grounds in the southwest South Dakota town.
Forty-six-year-old Dale Christensen is due in court May 30 on five misdemeanor counts that each carry a maximum punishment of a year in jail. He didn't return telephone calls to the Rapid City Journal or to The Associated Press.
Christensen is accused of telling the boys they could have beer if they went behind some trees to drink it, and telling some team ropers they would be rewarded with beer if they beat another roping team.
School Board President Mark DeVries declined comment to the Journal, saying the legal process needs to run its course.
BROOKINGS, S.D. (AP) - The state Board of Regents has set up a committee to search for a new Dakota State University president.
Regent Harvey Jewett of Aberdeen will chair the search committee, which will include three other members of the board. The regents also have appointed a dozen business officials, faculty members, students and others to the search committee.
The university system is looking for someone to replace Douglas Knowlton, who left Dakota State in February to take a job in Minnesota's higher education system.
David Borofsky is serving as interim president at Dakota State until a permanent president is appointed for the university in Madison.
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) - South Dakota parks officials are hoping you'll go out and catch a fish this weekend.
As part of the State Parks Open House weekend, all South Dakota state parks are offering free admission through Sunday. The fishing license requirement also will be waived through Sunday.
Camping fees still apply.
Several state parks are holding family-friendly events to coincide with the Open House weekend.
